General
This mod adds new recipes for minecarts and their tracks, which do not use nearly as many alloyed machine blocks, and are cheaper overall, but require more crafting infrastructure to actually produce. This helps make them a lot less painful to manufacture, and make their production less agonizing, where you strictly ration their production due to said material limitations.Note that this mod was written in 2018; the recipe changes since then have made the original reason for this mod much less dramatic (see the tables below). here is an example of commentary on the cost from that era; the wiki also has some similar comments on relevant pages.
